Swirlydoos Second kit reveal with Jan

By now you have enjoyed the January blog hop and been inspired by the gorgeous "Vineyard" kit put together by our Swirly Queen. I hear that some of you are even lovingly petting your kits. I look forward to seeing some beauties from you soon!

Here are a few more creations from the frigid Midwest. While on a quest for new floors, we spent the night at my sister's house before heading back home. Of course, my sister and I had to fit in some sort of crafting if not down right scrapping. We settled for altering a wine bottle. Both of us had pinned various twine covered bottles on Pinterest so we figured we could come up with something we liked.

So, we started with a clean, label-free wine bottle, some twine, and Mod Podge. It was a lot of fun.
I added some flowers from our ki,t as well as the colored twine from the main kit, a Prima chippie, and a Prima butterfly.

We found a YouTube vid for this twine flower. I just popped a Prima chippie in the center.

Ok, now back to scrapping!

My husband's friend, Josh, saw my scrap room and was impressed with my pages. He gave my husband some pictures and asked him to give them to me to scrap. So, these next two pages are for Josh.

Close-up of the chippie treatment and flower cluster.

I had to cheat on this one. I picked a piece of Blue Fern paper from an older Swirlydoos kit for the background. It just seemed perfect for the sweet picture of Josh and his sweetheart. Lots of Prima chippies and flowers on this one. I added the "today" acetate piece from my stash.

Another close up, again I used a technique with the mica powders and dimensional paint included in the kit to create this look on the chippy.

Another close up of the other chippy.

Here's the last layout I'll share with you today. This one was created for the Prima BAP for January.

I used the "Heart Attack" stencil from Dusty Attic behind the photo. Then, a few photo mats, some Prima flowers and Prima wooden embellies and call it done!

2nd Reveal for December "All that Glitters"

I hope you are enjoying your December Swirlydoos kits by now. "All that Glitters" is a definitely a sparkly, glittery kit. Now, I've had more time to create so I'd like to share more layouts made with this beautiful kit.

For this first one, I tackled the round die cut wreath. I say tackled because usually the 12x12 die cuts are a challenge for me. I don't like to just mount them on cardstock whole and scrap over the top of them. I'd rather alter or modify them in some way.

Here, I had the wreath hanging off the lower corner of the cardstock. I added some subtle inking with the Prima reverse brick stencil. The ornaments were fussy cut  and added around the picture along with some of the silver leaves and the pink leaves from last month's kit. Watered down gesso was splattered all over to mimic snow. The photo was converted to gray scale so the colors in it would not clash with the pink and blues of the papers.

Here's a close up of that gorgeous ribbon with the bling.

I added a wooden word over the top of the ribbon using gloss medium.

Here's my second one featuring a picture of my son way back in December of 1994. I distressed along the middle of the white lace paper and added some blue underneath. A loooooong time ago we received some angel wings in a Swirlydoos kit. I finally found a layout for them! I cut the feather wings in half and used them under the picture. The flowers are from the Swirlydoos store and the velvet leaves are from the current kit.

Here's a few close-ups of those amazing angel wings.

I added a few small doilies from a past kit to add some layers under the picture.

Another wooden word title added on top of the flowers.

Here's my last layout for the second reveal. A lot of fussy cutting here. This may be my last layout with this kit. If so, stay tuned for the "Scrap your Scraps" tutorial!

December Round Robin

Week #2 is due to post their entries on Monday. I am posting tonight because I can! And, I'll be at work until late tomorrow. So, I followed QT this month. I stuck to her basic design and added my own touches. I only did one picture, a selfie from the Fourth of July 2012. Little did I know, this was the night Roger planned to propose but it didn't work out for him. The grand finale didn't last long enough for him to pop the question.

I pulled out a Swirlydoos kit from May 2012 which kinda seems appropriate now. After all, the picture was taken in July 2012. I deconstructed the Creative Embellishments angel wings. After soaking them in water for 15 minutes I separated the layers along the edges of the wings. A heat embossing gun was used to dry the wings. Then I hit them with silver Smooch, glimmer mist in pearl and then randomly added some white and silver embossing powders. To add more sparkle I used the silver glitter glue from our December kit along the edges.

Ferro paste and a Prima stencil added some texture to the background. Some random stamping with butterflies and print stamps added to background. The flowers are from my stash. tfl!
