We have some absolutely beautiful scrapbook projects for you to see today !!

First, let me share my interpretation of the kit sketch. I fussy cut the hot air balloon from one of the kit papers and added it over the top of one of the sun catcher hot air balloons. The other sun catcher is tucked under the photos. I used flowers from previous kits and my stash. The chippie is from my stash, too. I did some random stamping as well as a little stenciling with white embossing paste to add some interest to the background paper.

This month I am honored to present Swirlydoos' Anatomy of a Layout. Here is my layout featuring some pictures of my now 22 year old son on his second birthday. We took a dinner cruise on Lake of the Ozarks and now I call that lake my home!

You can check out my tutorial at Swirlydoos and Swirlydoos SnapGuide.
This layout only uses papers, flowers, and embellishments from the main kit of the month.

You can add stamping and stenciling with your favorite stamps and stencils that you already have in your scrap room.

The next one I am sharing with you is for the All that Flutters challenge at Swirlydoos. It truly is hard for me to make a page without butterflies! This is one of my favorite challenges each month.

I used flowers from the flower add on as well as some diecuts from the embellishment add on to complete this layout of my sister with me at Creating Keepsakes Convention in 2010.

Here's a girly layout of some us at Swirly Camp 2015 in Lafayette, LA.
Again, I used flowers from the flower add on and diecuts from the embellishment add on to create this one.

Next, a little grungy layout of my daughter. I used the chalkboard piece from the main kit and one of the Prima metal pieces in the embellishment kit for this one. Just some random stamping, rub ons, and ink splats to complete this one. Almost done with the school year. Almost a high schooler.

Being down to pieces of paper, I had to grab a patterned paper from my stash to use as the background on this one. The flowers are from a past Swirlydoos kit. The metal pieces is part of a larger piece that we received in the embellishment add on.

I hope you enjoyed my layouts. Now, to share with you another one page mini album that I made with the scraps of the kit. Here's the cover of the album. I just added some stenciling with the Ferro that we received in a past add on kit along with a flower from a past kit and one of the wooden Prima pieces we received in the main kit this month. See how easy it is to mix kits and still have a wonderfully coordinated piece?!

Here's the first thing you see when you open it up.

Then, one more fold to open.

Now, the flaps open. More Ferro stenciling here along with a flower and a Prima wooden piece.

And, the first two flaps fold down. The last section is a pocket with a small tag.

The embellishment add on usually has a pack of ephemera that coordinates with the main kit papers and are perfect for mini album embellishments. I hope you enjoyed my projects! Hop along as there are many more beautiful creations to see!

You have until midnight, eastern time, October 23rd to complete the hop. Winners will be announced on the Swirlydoos Blog on 10/25.  In order to qualify to win here is what you need to do:
1: Visit all of the blogs and leave a comment on each. This way we know you were there. Take your time. There are REALLY beautiful things to see along the way.
2: Before you leave each blog, look for the “special” words and write it down.
Once you have visited all the blogs and collected all the special words, they will create a sentence.
3: Finally, go back to the Swirlydoos blog and leave a comment letting us know how much fun you had, tell us the sentence that was created with all of the special words you collected. Can't wait to hear from you.

Round Robin Week #3- Vintage Fall

Here's my entry for the Round Robin at Swirlydoos this month. This is a great challenge to help jump start your creativity. The challenge this month is to use fall colors, a mixed media medium that you have not used in awhile, add some texture (burlap, cardboard, etc.), and use a tutorial from Swirlydoos.

I followed Andie this month. She had a lot of flowers on her page and I loved that. Some of the flowers on my page have been in my stash over four years. Jax, my fluffy pup, even distressed some of them for me. He is such the scrapper!

I used Ferro in gold as my medium. I had not used it in awhile as some of my older bottles dried up. For texture I added a burlap banner. My tutorial was one posted by Ang. She showed us how to use paper strips distressed in different ways to add layers. I used distressed and edge punched strips along the outside of the background paper for some interest.

Vintage Love

For the vintage twist I scrapped some picture of my parents before I was born. I hope they don't mind that I refer to their pictures as "vintage!"

SGC Challenge at Swirlydoos

Well, I knew this would happen sooner or later! Paula challenged us to post one of our first ever scrapbook pages and then redo it. The point: to showcase how your style has changed over the years. I have been scrapping since 2002 and my start was with Creative Memories. So, you can just imagine what my first pages looked like, right?

Ok, here is my first layout ever. And, yes, I know it is actually two pages. But, that is how I scrapped then. Everything was a two pager then!

I didn't have any way to print these pictures again so I carefully removed them from the original layout and scanned them. Don't worry, I put the pictures back on the original layout. It is still intact!

Because I did all the cutting on the original pictures I had to leave them the same in the re-do. I used Webster's papers on the re-do. Now, everything I do is a single page and this was no exception.

Thanks for looking! Tell me what you think of my "then" and "now."
